INTRODUCTION
Portugal has an
excellent selection of campsites, but increasingly Aires (free and charging) and
parking stop-overs are becoming available. The attitude to motorcaravans is
easygoing, so I see no problem in wildcamping, providing normal safety and
security measures are considered.

large public car park next to canal and flyover. No services. Signposted,
illuminated, level tarmac surface. Quiet at night apart from occasional train -
very loud! Pretty town with traditional boats providing trips along canal. (May

lagoon. Picnic area, WC, free water, very quiet. Nice walks, cycling, lots of

(Braganca) (E -6.74595 / N41.80391) - Free dedicated parking area below citadel
for 25-30 vans on tiered site with picnic tables. Free water/waste point, paved
surface, signposted, illuminated. Max 1 day during 1st July - 15Sept, otherwise
no limit. Attractive views, good walks and interesting town. Very popular. We

10+ vans by river. Level tarmac surface, illuminated, quiet. We only stopped for
lunch, but looked OK for overnighting. (May 2014).

free water/waste point. 2 days maximum. Level, quiet. (May 2014).

(E -8.42918 / N 40.19673) - Parque Verde do Mondego, Ave Ines de Castro. Free
parking for 20 vans by rowing club. Level, paved surface, illuminated. WC. 1 day
maximum. Pretty old university town. We stayed on a Saturday night - it
was quiet until 10.30, when an open air concert started, absolutely deafening.
After a while we moved to the police station, which was quieter. (May 2014).

hedges, with additional space for 10+ vans on normal parking. Free Euro Relais
service point, including 2 free electricity points. Slightly sloping tarmac
surface, signposted. Picnic area. 8 days maximum stay. Pretty old centre to

signposted, quiet at night (until fire station siren sounded!). Lovely scenery,

Beautiful park by the river, interesting town centre with lots of sculptures.
