INTRODUCTION

This is an informal review of European motorcaravan stop-overs and caravan sites that my wife and I've visited since buying a motorcaravan in 1999. All quoted prices are based on a motorcaravan + two adults. We tend to spend six weeks in the spring, six weeks in the autumn, consequently the main updates to this site follow these holidays. The latest inclusions are for the French Pyrenees in 2016.

We changed our motorcaravan from a Autocruise Valentine, (17 foot two-berth) to a Chausson Welcome 55 (another two-berth, 6 metres in length) in April 2006. References to ease of access relate to this type of vehicle - not necessarily the same for a larger vehicle!

I've included photos of the sites or closest towns where available, as well as some maps showing approximate locations - WB01371_.gif (289 bytes) marks the spot.

tic.gif (1004 bytes) indicates a highly recommended site.

"CC" denotes site entry in the Caravan Club Continental Sites Guide.

"ET" denotes site entry in the Guide Officiel des Etape Touristiques Camping-Cars, published by Camping Car magazine, and available in French Hypermarkets. Contains Aire de Services in France, Germany, Italy and a few in Switzerland and Belgium.

"GL" denotes site entry in the Guide National des Aires de Services Camping Cars, published by Guides Lariviere, and available in French hypermarkets. Only contains French Aires.

"SA" denotes site entry in the Stellplatz-Atlas Deutschland guide, by Pro Mobil and published by Hallwag International. Other countries are available in the series.

"WS" denotes entry in Wohnmobil-Stellplatze Deutschland guide, by Dr Dieter Semmler.

"JL" denotes entry in JuziListe German guide.

The views expressed are based on my own impressions, and should be taken as a guideline only, as situations can obviously change over time, sometimes for the better, sometimes worse  -  I hope they are of some use!
